The next meeting of the Technical Committee on "Precious Metals and Precious Stones", established by the "Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization" (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Supervision under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held on 09.09.2025 at the Consumer Goods Expertise Center.
The event was attended by members of the Technical Committee consisting of representatives of the Agency's "Consumer Goods Expertise Center" LLC, AZSTAND, "AzerGold" CJSC, the Economic Zones Development Agency under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Jewelers Association, "Levata" LLC, "Minali Jewellery" and other local companies and brands operating in the jewelry sector.
During the meeting, the work done on the implementation of the Technical Committee's action plan for 2025 was discussed. Then, the committee members voted on the following draft state standards:
>Precious Stones — Terms and Definitions
>Jewelry and precious metals — Determination of high purity silver — ICP-OES method
As a result of the discussions, a decision was made to submit those standard drafts to AZSTAND and apply to the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AIS) for their inclusion in the state register in accordance with the legislation, based on consensus.
Also, two standards discussed in the Technical Committee ISO/TC 174 “Jewellery and precious metals” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
>Jewelry and precious metals — Determination of high purity silver — Difference method using ICP-OES
>Precious Stones — Terms and Definitions periodic
inspection, as well as a standard
>Jewellery and precious metals — Determination of high purity silver — Differential method using ICP-OES
The issues of preparing the final draft were submitted to the committee members for their opinions and suggestions.
At the end of the meeting, a vote was held to elect new members to AZSTAND/TK 36.
